Parvathi Badrinath

Parvathi Badrinath of Silver Hill Public School secured a remarkable 99% in CBSE board exams. She topped the Kozhikode district and made her parents, teachers and school proud. Her consistency played a key role in her success and ensured that she remained confident and stress-free. Here are some tips that Parvathi would like to share with us.

To what do you owe your success? How did your teachers and parents help you achieve this feat?

>> I owe my success to the meticulous and consistent effort I put into my daily tasks. Having stress relievers like listening to music helped me during breaks. My parents gave me freedom to choose my study method and gave constant support and confidence. Teachers were professional in their teaching and periodic tests they gave helped. Blessings of parents and teachers go without saying.

How did you manage your physical and mental health during the exam season?

>> I looked after my physical health by eating less oily food, drinking plenty of water, taking short walks and getting enough sleep. Listening to music, singing, playing guitar helped calm my mind and was a diversion from exam preparation. Socializing with my extended family during exam season helped too.

Exam stress is inevitable but winners like you are able to defeat this monster. Can you share a few tips with your juniors on how to combat stress?

>> A few tips I can suggest include:

  • Being confident right-sized.
  • Have an effective study method that suits you.
  • Take to yoga, meditation, music, etc depending upon your taste, for a temporary stress buster.

Most students study hard. But achievers study smart. How did you ensure that your efforts yield results?

>> Being consistent in studies right from the start built up a positive trend and was encouraging. I got constant feedback from parents, teachers & peers and acted on it. I was able to build my confidence through extracurricular & co-curricular activities.

Social media is a big distraction nowadays. How did you ensure that it did not negatively affect your performance?

>> My social media accounts were limited and I did not find it too absorbing to indulge in it. However, I must confess that I binge on music & talk shows often.

What was your exam game plan?

>> I did at least two revisions per subject before the exams. I consider preparing concise reading material encompassing key points as essential. I was able to keep my composure during the examination and present my answers neatly and to the point.
