School is the very foundation of every student’s education. And the role that the parents play in their child’s success can never be undermined. How did your teachers and parents help you achieve this feat?

>>  I believe that only 2 motivators have played a key role in my success. First is my school and the teachers and the second is my parents. I have been able to reach this height of success due to the unflinching and selfless efforts of my teachers and my school. Also my parents had been a great guide to me.

What methods do you follow to prevent the 21st century distractions like TV, phone, internet from interfering with your study time? Can you suggest some simple tips to your juniors, particularly those who are low on self-control and high on impulsivity, so that they can stop wasting their precious time on trivial things?

>>   Well, I think these distractions do affect studies to some extent but as far as I am concerned, I keep myself busy and engaged in studies and constructive work. This policy will definitely help to build up a gap between oneself and deviations.

Self-confidence is a boon. But under-confidence and overconfidence are a bane. Your results are definitely a result of optimum confidence. Can you guide your juniors on how you remain motivated and confident?

>>  Stay away from the people who try to demotivate you. It’s like looking at the half-filled glass instead of the empty half. The best way is to read positive thoughts and quotations. The habit of reading motivational and inspirational books will boost up your confidence.

Toppers have many positive habits and mindsets that enable them to perform well and achieve success. Can you suggest a few habits and thought patterns which can help your juniors improve their grades and overall life?

>>   The best habit to be cultivated is to be attentive in the class. It’s not about burning the midnight oil but stay focused on whatever you do. While you are enjoying, enjoy your life to the utmost but while studying you must be focused on only studies.

Most students fail to understand the difference between being busy (just doing something) and being productive (doing something important). How do you ensure that you are productive? Can you share any tips on improving the quality of studying rather than simply maximizing the quantity of studying?

>>  Whenever you begin to do a task, you must be aware about what will be its output. You must do only those jobs those are constructive. Not only the syllabus or homework, even if you read or study something, you must remember how it is going to help you out.

Good memory is vital for success in exams. How did you ensure that you are able to remember and recall what you have studied?

>>   Eating almonds may be an alternative but according to me, it is only our concentration. Cramming is not the way out of it. It leaves you blank the next moment but if you are clear with the concepts, you don’t have to worry about memory.

An achiever stays and works in the present because he knows that it does not pay to worry about the future or lament the past. What are your thoughts on this?

>>   I agree with the statement. You must forget what has happened, and you must not worry about what is going to happen. All that you must be aware about is your present. Your present shapes your future and that’s what counts.

In this highly competitive world, exam stress and anxiety are inevitable. Any tips on how to combat them?

>>   Everyone has to undergo such conditions. I was much too tense and nervous on the day of my first exam but the moment the thought of my goal stuck my mind, I forgot everything and all I could see was my question paper and what was written on it.

Our environment heavily influences our productivity. Can you suggest some ways to build an organised environment for studying that ensures proper efficiency?

>>  During exam days, you must sit in an environment where there are no distractions. Your partner must be a peer with positive thoughts and vibes. Even at your home, you must sit in a room where there are no toys, no distractions and a peaceful and cool environment.

Peer pressure can be both positive and negative. Toppers like you have a positive impact on others. But then being a native of digital world, can you tell us how do you ensure that you remain uninfluenced by negative peer pressure?

>>  A person’s biggest competition is the person himself. Why should one worry about what the other is doing or scoring? One must work to satisfy himself. Rather than cribbing over the negativity of the peer. I always remain focussed to my goal with all optimism and commitment.

Achievers are usually good at prioritisation skills. This not only increases their efficiency and time management ability, but it also improves their quality of sleep and reduces stress, anxiety and depression. Can you share some simple prioritisation tips that you follow to make the most of their time?

>>  Instead of delaying the work. We need to cultivate the habit of doing it right now. Devote equal time for every subject. Try to improve where you are lacking and excel where you have improved.

Humans are thinking beings. And as much as we want to, we can not totally avoid negative thoughts. Such emotions are natural and inevitable. Can you suggest some ways about how students change their unwanted habits and thought patterns?

>>  Just like every coin has 2 sides, we all have both positive and negative thoughts. When a negative thought begins to overcome your positivity, you must consult your teachers. They are the biggest eye openers and guides.

A topper and an average student both get the same number of hours in a day, i.e., 24 hours. But even then, most students complain that time isn’t sufficient or the coursework is too much and time is too little. Any tips for them?

>>  “Success comes to those who work smart” One must learn to manage time, work and energy. Students who are careless in the beginning have to suffer in the end. It is like the Hare and the Tortoise story. Even if you are exhausted, be slow but keep moving.

Some students focus on short-term goals and some focus on long-term goals. But achievers usually have their short-term goals aligned with their long-term goals. Any tips for other students on the same?

>>  As I have already remarked: Your present decides your future. A little step everyday can add up to big results. One needs to think big and not just start big. If you spend 1 hour on each subject everyday, by the end of the session, you would have 365 hours on one single subject. What else is needed for success?

Do you believe in multitasking or monotasking? Which one of these do you think is better for excelling in exams? And why?

>>  Well, I think monotasking is the best. One must be engrossed in what one is doing. Multitasking reduces your concentration and attentiveness and the output is not satisfactory. If your are focused, you can excel. Pablo Picasso spent 30 years on just painting and finally a day came, when a painting made by him in 30 seconds was sold for million dollars. This is how monotasking helps you out.

Concluding, I would say that all we need is never to be low in spirits. After all, we are all different in some way, but only a few dare to show it to the world.
